My 10yo hockey obsessed daughter has read most of the books in this series. Her favorites were Rebel Glory & Winter Hawk Star. She'd give those 5, with Winter Hawk Star being her absolute favorite.The reading level is slightly below a 10yo, but she loves hockey so much that she devours these books anyhow.

I would give this book five stars because it was a wonderful bookI would give this book to Jake Walman

Another great book from this author! I really like his "Lightning on Ice" Series.This book is about a hockey goalie named Joseph Larken. Trouble is stirred up when a girl goalie joins the team. There are steroids, fights, and other things going on. Has great suspense and keeps a person reading.

This is an insightful book especially if you are a bit new to marketing. While building a story brand is nothing new, Miller does a more than adequate job setting up its importance in marketing and then fleshing out the details in section two. After a good discussion of the StoryBrand Brand Script (SB7), in section three he discusses how to implement this to build a better website - still spot on material. He then discusses how this can apply to a large organization, then wraps up the book by giving a so-called StoryBrand marketing Road Map.However, this is where the book and his obvious marketing ploy at the often hapless reader falls apart. At the most crucial stage of the book he skimps on each of the five elements of the Road Map, all the time mentioning that there is more to be learned at his live conferences held periodically and also online. While it's OK to mention this option, it is over-bearing. Not only does it become over-bearing, but the last part of the book is intentionally short of implementation details as a way to draw the reader into wanting, or "needing" more to implement the book's overall strategy. It's clever. After just investing the time and energy to read the previous near 200 pages and being sold on how important the Story Brand is to marketing success, you have now been geared to actually want more to bring the circle, both learning, implementation and even emotionally - complete.The next logical step is to check out his company online. This is where I balk again at Miller's strategy. His live courses are just under $2000 per person, but if that's not an option, including for me since I currently work in Southeast Asia, there's an online course option, which comes in at a whopping $1500. Worse yet, the price is not give on his well-crafted website but you have to "request" permission to apply for the course, then in an email the price is sent with another problematic notion, a 48-hour ticking clock to make the decision to buy the course. I just received notice that my 48 hour window of opportunity is closing - no thanks Mr. Miller.Below is the email blast just received."This private invitation is only good for another 24 hours. If you're tired of wasting money on websites that don't work... If nothing is happening when you send your email campaigns...If your elevator pitches fall flat...The pain stops here.If you haven't clarified your message, your current marketing is costing you money. You're pouring water in a leaky bucket.There's a better way to talk about your products and services -- in a way that compels people listen and respond. StoryBrand helps you uncover it."But what a minute, let's go back full circle, aren't these the reasons I bought the book in the first place? Do I really have to spend $1500 or more to learn about this since it’s supposed to be fully covered in the book? Also, as another reviewer just wrote, be warned you that if you sign up for the videos and forms you will be inundated with emails trying to sell you into his other programs. Be advised that there is an MLM component behind this book.

I’ve used the hero’s journey model for more than two decades. He sure was right this time.Lots of people have written about how to use the hero’s journey in both storytelling and in marketing copy. This book is about writing marketing copy, especially web copy. Donald Miller does four important things that make this book unique and helpful.He points out that you shouldn’t be the hero of the story. Many writers do that, but the customer should be the hero. OK, then, what about the company or the brand? That should be the guide. Think Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars or Haymitch from Hunger Games.Miller also notes that if there’s no danger, there’s no story that matters. Most other writers don’t mention the danger or underplay it. But the reason we call it the” hero’s journey” is that the hero makes it through the forest when lots of other people don’t. Adding that bit on what will happen if the hero fails in his quest will make your marketing copy and your stories stronger.If you’re used to jargon-filled marketing books, rejoice! So, I bought this book a couple weeks back when I was on the rampage to find books to help me to develop my creative brain. I've been a professional creative for about 8 years as a photographer, but recently switched fields into graphic art and design...like a sideways shift. That meant I had to take my creativity to a whole new level as I was the only really factor in the things I crate.I have to be up front, this wasn't really what I expected, but, that was my fault for not previewing a sample before beginning. That being said, this is an amazing book for creatives who are trying to figure things out...or even veteran creatives who need to refresh on some of the abscises.I'm not quite through the book yet, but I think that overall gist is about mindset and habits. How do creatives be who they are....not necessarily how to do anything...but, how to create the mind set, environments, and habits to make us successful. What I was seeing was specific exercises (which I found later via a deep Google search) but in a very special way this book does a lot more.If you're looking for a basic blueprint on how to create the right motivators to be creative, I'd highly recommend this book. It's kind of like a checklist of things to remember vs a deep and moving read, but, there's still a good amount of personality in it to keep you moving forward.I'd recommend it as a quick read for veterans, or as a more in-depth study for those new to creating for a living :)

This book is full of bite-sized nuggets to nurture and inspire your creativity. Treat yourself to a night on the couch, perhaps a glass of wine? and savor each page -- filled with beautiful photos and ideas that you can put into practice right away. This book also makes a great gift for a friend, sister, mother, aunt, babysitter -- or anyone who could benefit from a little creative boost. Carrie is a real life creativity enabler, and also my friend. My kids have made paper lanterns, tooth fairy pillows and junk sculptures from her "bits and bobs" studio drawer. My daughter has traced her quilting patterns to make art for her bedroom walls. I myself have gone to many of her vision board workshops, where I enjoyed the community and conversation just as much as the cutting and pasting. I think my favorite tip is the jar of markers. I now have a jar of Sharpie markers on my desk at work, and just looking at it puts me in a more creative frame of mind. Okay -- you've spent enough time reading my little review. Now go order this book and enjoy the new spark it brings to your life!

I love this book. I first saw it while perusing through a book store and decided to order it. I am glad I did. There are so many areas to really challenge what you think about yourself and your current perspective. If you need to be shaken up in a good way this book will do it. Makes me want to get up and work on things I have quit on. It reignites the fire that so many artists and creative people lose from getting bogged down by negativity and just life in general. Take advantage of the areas to write ideas and keep a pencil handy and save this for when you have quite time. It is good to be able to really answer some questions for yourself.

Bought as an ebook, but purchased the paperback when part of a group study. Excellent resources for any artist or maker.

I just started this tonight, and I LOVE it already! Only a few pages in, and I'm so inspired. I hope Ms. Bloomston is planning on writing another volume on creativity, as I feel I will quickly finish this book, and be wanting more!So happy I went ahead and bought this.

This is a great book to get you back into the creative spirit. It's no pressure, has tons of awesome tips, and reads well. I can't stand when books aren't well written, but this one is superb. It got me back into throwing pots again - so, a sucessful purchase, for sure!

This was a fabulous book! I read it cover to cover the day it arrived. So many great ideas...I'm going to start at the beginning and spend the next 30 days working through it. I've never realized I could live creatively and not just focus on the end result! This is the most fun and helpful book I've read in years! Five stars for sure!
