Excellent cursive practice manual!

Just what I expected; a really good grammar book with excellent examples.

I turned down lots of other grammar books because I did not have time to pore over long, detailed manuals. This book was a fast read but strengthened my grammar skills noticeably. It was actually fun, too. I recommend it highly.

If you need to review your grammar skills, this is the book for you. It's an easy read, which allows one to move through the book quickly.

The Little Gold Grammar Book is simple and concise. I refer to this book to clear up grammar questions and to review for the English classes I teach.

I wish I knew about this book prior to writing my award-winning children'sbook. I went through many different resources and a total of six differenteditors to ensure that all the proper tweaking was in place. I noted thingsin this grammar book that I haven't found in any other book. The entry onhow to capitalize titles is excellent and something I had long wondered about.***Titles and capitalization. With respect to book, magazines, songs, etc.,confusion often exists as to when titles are italicized and when they areplaced in quotation marks. Note that underlining is no longer used toidentify titles (gone are the days of the typewriter). The general rule isthat longer works or full works are placed in italics. Partial works orshort works are placed in quotation marks, and are not italicized. Thismeans that the titles of books, magazines, newspapers, movies, TV programs,radio programs, plays, and names of albums are italicized. However, thetitles of articles, essays, short stories, poems, chapters in a book,episodes in a TV series, and songs are placed in quotation marks.Three rules are always observed with regard to the capitalization of titles:always capitalize the first and last words of a title and never use a periodafter the last word. Beyond this, the rules for capitalization of titles aresomewhat arbitrary. The broad rule is to capitalize all important words andnot to capitalize small, unimportant words. Important words include allnouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Exceptions may include theverbs "is," "am," and "are" and the word "as," regardless of what part ofspeech it represents. "Unimportant" words'--'prepositions, conjunctions, andinterjections'--'may or may not be capitalized. Two-letter prepositions(e.g., at, by, in, of, on, to, up) are seldom capitalized and the articles(i.e., a, an, the) are virtually never capitalized (unless, of course,they're the first word of a title). The coordinating conjunctions "and,""but," "or," "nor," and "for" are seldom capitalized; the conjunctions "yet"and "so" are almost always capitalized.Some confusion may arise with regard to the words "capitalization" and "fullcaps." Capitalization denotes placing only the first letter of a word incaps (e.g., Great). Full caps refers to placing every letter of a word incaps. (e.g., GREAT).***

It does not explain nessarily for an immigrant here to get a Green Card.What it does is to discuss a needlessly complex process for immigration routinely of a foreign spouse & family.For me it is not like doing a simple income tax form. Instead it is complex with shifting set of laws.While expensive, it proved my ignorance getting a foreign spouse & family here. I ended up hiring an immigration law firm. It is in process.

So easy to follow with very specific steps for anyone preparing for a green card. If you read only one book, this should be it! Every page is not only straight forward and tremendously informative, but thoroughly enjoyable, as well.

Such a beautifully written memoir. Talking about the subject of female genital mutilation can be hard, especially growing up where it's culturally accepted. Korn speaks from heart delivering her experience while not condemning the nomadic culture she and her family have grown up in. This book is informative, heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once!

Fadumo Korn was born into a nomadic Somali tribe in 1964, and her childhood was unusually free for a Somalian girl. Though her parents doted on her, they did not spare her the culturally prescribed ordeal of female circumcision when she was seven years old. The circumcision, otherwise known as female genital mutilation (FGM) changed everything about Fadumo's world: first the ordeal itself, performed by a native practitioner with unclean implements, and then the infection that took hold and gradually ruined her health.Fadumo was sent to stay with wealthy and politically-connected relatives in Mogadishu for medical care. Eventually, in the midst of political upheaval in her country, she was sent to Europe and settled in Germany where she married and eventually found culturally sensitive medical care. After reconstructive surgery she was able to experience bodily functions without pain, and gave birth to a son. She now works with the Foundation for Women's Health, Research and Development (FORWARD), an international NGO committed to " eliminating gender-based violence against African girls and women, particularly female genital mutilation and child and forced marriage" (quote from FORWARD's website). These practices are the cultural norm in certain areas of Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and in some immigrant communities in Europe and North America. According to the World Health Organization, "An estimated 100 to 140 million girls and women worldwide are currently living with the consequences of FGM."Born in the Big Rains: A Memoir of Somalia and Survival (Women Writing Africa) sets itself and the reader a challenging task. On one hand it inspires anger with a horrifying description of FGM and of the terrible after-effects. Yet on the other hand it asks the reader to explore and try to understand the cultural significance of the practice as a step on the road to its eradication. Ms. Korn achieves both goals very well with this memoir. I respect her openness in telling her intensely personal story; she wears her empowerment well and we can only wish the same for all African women who live under the threat of this painful practice.Linda Bulger, 2010

This book was difficult for me to read because of the subject. I was not prepared for the female mutilation chapter. I kept reading because I wanted Mrs. Korn to overcome her obsticales both physical and emotional. It was hard to beleive that there are places in the world that actually allow such a practice. It certainly makes it clear that men in Somalia are the ruling force and women are mere vessels for having children and being slaves to their husbands. There was a point where I even got tears in my eyes this story touched me so much. I must say towards the end I did get a bored with all the politics and preaching. I know these things are important and more people need to be aware of it but I was more interested in Mrs. Korn's personal journey. This is a must read especially for women.

This book was such a great read. A very powerful and moving account about a woman's experience with Female Genital Mutilation. Her focus is broader however, creating the experience for any reader as if they are actually with her in Somalia and other journeys. A very easy read, this memoir is both uplifting and insightful. It captivates the essence of life as a nomad and transcends into political and cultural arenas that serve to enlighten the reader. This is definitely a must buy.

I work with a large Somali population in my work and this book gave me a better understanding of some of their cultural beliefs and actions. Even though I don't agree with their actions, it gave me a better understanding.

I am revising my previous 3-star review after consideration. My first bike was a '69 Bonneville T120 that I bought new that year and I currently ride a 2015 Triumph Rocket III Touring. I ordered this book after reading the very positive reviews but I am a slightly disappointed. It's not that it's a bad book. It's just that I have Triumph books that are just as good if not better although this book is the most up-to-date. (The most disappointing Triumph book I have bought is Triumph Motorcycles: The Art of the Motorcycle which is basically just an over-priced collection of sales brochures. I cannot recommend that book at all.)On the plus side, the way the chapters are organized in Triumph Motorcycles in America encourages me to just choose chapters randomly rather than reading it from cover to cover which I consider to be a positive. I thought a big advantage of a new Triumph book would be more up-to-date information but, surprising, there is very little of that and, in fact, some older Triumph books that I have cover much more of the modern Triumphs. I was also disappointed that the book hardly mentioned the Rocket III at all. In fact, it's only mentioned once in the text for a picture of a custom Rocket III Roadster and a minor mention of it in the general text - only a line or two. If it wasn't for that picture, someone reading the book who didn't know anything about Triumphs might never even know that the Rocket existed even though the story of it's development probably deserved a chapter of its own. After all, it's the biggest Triumph of all time with the largest production motorcycle in the world and it's a torque monster. It surely seems worthy of more than a slight mention.The reason I upgraded my review is that when I first posted it, I had skimmed over the book but completely read sections that caught my interest. Since then, I have read the entire book and I now think it deserves a higher rating although I'm not sure I would choose it over other Triumph books in my collection. It did cover the subject of it's title more thoroughly than other Trumph books, however.

Like other reviewers that have read several books about the history of triumph motorcycles, this is the one that I enjoyed most. Other books may have better photography or provide more detail about the bikes themselves but this is the one that I felt actually connected me with the people, places, and time that made up the first US Triumph 'invasion'. Other books have made me lust after vintage bikes, but this one made me wish that I could have lived in a different era.

Pleasantly surprised-in addition to the usual description of models there are chapters on all aspects of the Triumph world and Triumph people in America. As good or better than other Triumph books, very readable.

The last time it happened, I was getting coffee. I spied a woman intently writing in her journal first thing in the morning. Until I read, “Beyond Bullets” I actually had journal envy whenever I saw someone with their journal or heard someone casually say, “When going back through my journal…” While I knew the act of writing, of noting what I was grateful for, of checking my goals and accomplishments was a worthy endeavor; I couldn’t get to it. My new journals looked too new and I couldn’t bring myself to write in them. Along came “Beyond Bullets,” and the stress was gone. Rather than focusing on a particular type of journal, this book gave me wonderful ideas for journal layouts and creating a routine for journaling. “Beyond Bullets” encouraged me to determine my intention with my organization and this not only motivated me – it took away the stress that I might be journaling “wrong.” Simple things I hadn’t thought of like color coding or selecting writing tools – or even writing from both ends of the journal, turned me into a journal devote.

I've been trying to keep a bullet journal for about half a year now, and have been having a lot of trouble being happy with the way my journal looks/actually making myself use it - which is where this book comes in. I like that it's split between the structural parts of creating a bullet journal, and the creative aspect. I've found a lot of the suggested templets to be really useful, and I'm learning to make my journal more creative. I'm also a big fan of the suggestions given regarding paper choice, pens, and stickers. But what I like most about this book is that it brings all these things together into one space. Sure, some of this stuff I could find on the internet - but here it's packaged neatly together, there are plenty of good suggestions, and it was so easy to find an follow. I'd highly recommend this for anyone trying to get into journaling and finding themselves stuck.

This book absolutely inspired me to start a little bullet journal of my own. It's great fun, though Megan Rutell is really right in that if you invest in some higher quality pens (or markers or whatever) you may enjoy your journaling more. The book is awesome and has tons of example photos of creative journaling ideas. I love that Megan Rutell makes a point that you don't have to be an artist to make your journal beautiful. You can use graphite paper to trace images from magazine, or you print images from the internet to trace, and make your journal whatever you suits your fancy. There's something really cool about the pen and paper aspect of journaling that Rutell has really latched onto in this book. I highly recommend it.

I've been keeping a bullet journal for a year and a half now, and have found it incredibly helpful in keeping track of all areas of my life in one place,. I'm much more of a minimalist than a fancy-planner (although I am mad for fountain pens and inks in a zillion colors), so I actually didn't find the creative aspects as useful personally, but I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in making their journal/planner/whatever attractive and creative as well as useful. The author gives extremely concise and easy to follow directions in the creative half, and it was fun to read. What I did find most useful myself was the first half, which deals more with the actual planning pages and set-ups. There are ideas for pretty much every possible type of planner- weekly, monthly, different types of trackers, etc etc. Basically, the book is exactly what it says it is -- creative ideas to customize your own planner, no matter what sort of planner you are using.

This is a great book for anyone wanting to start journaling or to organize one you have already started. Journaling is no longer just writing things that have happened in a day. Now people use them as calendars, planners, sketchbooks, health trackiers and a private place to express yourself. I did not know there were so many styles of journaling. Traditional, art, travel, planning and journaling are the styles this author addresses. Supplies needed for journaling are relatively inexpensive. Pen and paper is all you need. There are so many different art supplies that are available today. Many scrapbooking items can be used in making your journal your own design. Let your imagination be ignited with the help of this book. Your journal will be taken to new heights.

This book covers a variety of journal styles and techniques. From the title, I expected a book just on bullet journaling, but all of the ideas could be used in a bullet journal. Art journals are also included.

I have tried to use a bullet journal several times over the past couple of years and always gave up after a few days. It always seemed to me to be an overly complicated to do list and nothing more. All those fabulous layouts and gushing blogs didn't help. I watched videos, poked around on Pinterest, but I still couldn't make it work. I couldn't figure out what these folks were actually getting done. I always went back to my digital reminder system. But intuitively I knew I was missing some depth and context with my simple (and some not so simple) digital systems. Plus I believe (and science has proven in multiple studies) you retain more when you hand write vs. entering into a digital system.This book puts it all together !!!! She walks you through the whys and hows of keeping a journal, regardless of how you choose to do it. And the light finally went on. I finally get it and am ready to journal/bujo. I even ordered two of these to get me started: BookFactory Ghost Grid Dot Journal.

In fact, I think I have a new favorite wizard: Lilly Singer.A big thanks goes to author Lydia Sherrer for bringing a new world of wizardry to life in her Lilly Singers books. So far, I have read only the first, "Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus: Beginnings," though the series has thus far expanded to four titles. Book 1 introduces Lilly and her partner in magic and mayhem, Sebastian Blackwell, who, while alternately infuriating and endearing, is never boring.One of the most appealing things about Sherrer’s magic world is its elimination of gender stereotypes of Harry Potter's wizarding world. (Sorry, Universal Studios—the phrase was irresistible.) In Sherrer’s writings, wizards and witches can be either male or female. What distinguishes them is the source of their abilities. Wizards’ powers are innate—something they were born with. Witches cultivate relations with creatures such as fairies and pixies, supplying such delicacies as moldy pizza (for the somewhat bizarre “mold fae” who eat decaying things) in return for magical favors.Sherrer’s first title does a good job of introducing the characters without slowing the action with backstories. Within a few pages, Lilly’s embroiled in the book’s first adventure, one involving a haunted mansion and an ancient curse. With the main characters sufficiently developed, the novel turns to a second adventure, involving a friendship betrayed, a search for a stolen magical item, and a desperate race to avert potentially disastrous supernatural repercussions from magic misused.The majority of the book is written through Lilly’s perspective, but Sebastian is also given a turn as the point-of-view character—a well-usedtool to help readers understand Sebastian’s inner self, and to show that he is much more than the charmingly irresponsible rogue he may seem.One note for younger readers—or the parents of younger readers: While the cover art and typeface of this book is somewhat reminiscent of middle-grade or young-adult fiction, the novel is written for adults, with adult characters, who on rare occasions use adult language.With Book 1 of the Lilly Singer Adventure Series under my belt, I'm eager to start on Book 2, Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus: Revelations (The Lily Singer Adventures, Book 2), and hope it will be equally as well written and entertaining.

This was such a fun read and I am so glad I picked it up. I heard about this book in one of my facebook groups, added it to my wishlist and then grabbed it a few weeks later when I saw it was free. Before I finished this book I had already bought book 2 as I already knew by then I wanted to continue this series. Love, Lies and Hocus Pocus Beginnings is a fun read filled with adventure and magic set in the current day world. I quickly got immersed in this work and had a lot of fun reading about Lilly and Sebastian their adventures.This books is split up in three parts, first we have adventure surrounding a ghost that Sebastian and Lilly work on. Then we get an interlude, which are a few chapters form Sebastian his point of view which actually serves as the set-up for the third part where we go back to Lilly her point of view. While I was a bit surprised at first when I saw epilogue at 30-40% in the book, I thought the three part set-up worked well here. I think they are officially labeled as two episodes, so you basically get two adventures in one book. I liked getting to know the characters a bit in the first part and then seeing Sebastian his point of view was so fun as we learn a lot more about him as a character and his magic, which are all things Lilly doesn't know yet.The book focuses on Lilly and Sebastian. Lilly is a wizard and a librarian. She was quite the interesting character, she's a bit strict, studious and prim and proper as well. She likes to bake and drink tea. She was a tad too serious at times, but I could relate to her and Sebastian was just the perfect character to work alongside her as she's such a contrast to her personality. Sebastian is charming, easy going and likes to make jokes. Or at least he acts that way, his point of view really gave some insight in his personality. I liked seeing how Sebastian got Lilly involved in all kinds of trouble, but I am pretty sure she doesn't really mind even though she pretends to at times. It was a lot of fun to follow the adventures of these two and I feel like we got a good idea of their personalities and some topics are touched upon that I am sure we'll learn more about in later books. There is still a lot about them we don't know, but I hope we get to discover that in later books. I already want to read more about Lilly and Sebastian.And then there is the world building, which is so expertly done. I loved getting immersed in this world. It really felt like the author thought this all out, how the magic worked, the wizard society and even the spells and artifacts we come across. It felt like the magic made sense and had rules in how to guide it. It was a bit confusing at first what the difference was between witches and wizards, but I felt that getting Lilly's point of view helped to clarify what wizards were and then the chapters form Sebastian his point of view gave me a better insight in what witches were. I like how both where very different and while the whole wizard things sounded cool, I thought maybe the witch thing was even more interesting. I liked feeling like this world and the magic in it made sense and was all thought out. And I just wanted to know more and see more of the magic. I also liked how while there was magic it also took place in the normal world, it has a bit of an urban fantasy feel when it comes to that.To summarize: I can't say enough good things about this book. It grabbed my attention quickly and I got immersed in this book and the world the author had created and didn't want to leave. I ended up ordering the second book before I even finished this one as I knew I wanted to continue with the series halfway through this book already. This book is a lot of fun, there is magic and artifacts, wizards and witches and more. It follows the adventures of Lilly and Sebastian, they are almost opposites in their personalities, but they are so fun together. Their personalities sometimes clash, but it also felt that due to their opposites they worked well together. I felt like I got feel for both their personalities as this book is split up in three parts and the middle part is from Sebastian his point of view while part one and three are from Lilly her point of view. This also helped to get to know more about both wizards and witches. But at the same time there's so much more to know ad I hope to learn even more about these two in the next books. And the world is so well crafted, it felt like things made sense and like the author really thought things through. I can't wait to read the next adventures of these two!

Yeah, turns out this wasn't for us. Maybe if we take up yoga or grow younger and more flexible. I think I've looked at a few pages maybe twice since I bought it years ago. Gotta be limber. Bad hips need not bother.

I'm happy with this product

I got this for a Valentine's day present. I haven't given it yet but I looked through it and I'm excited to see what my fiance thinks. I wanted something different for him other than a card or "man jewelry" since he doesn't wear any. The pictures are tasteful and sexy at the same time. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do with it =)

Very fun

This is only my second book on kama sutra and I am very pleased. The images are very clear and tastefully done. There are explanations and instructions for each technique and position. There are even a couple pages on sacred bathing and massage. I recommend this book.

This is exactly what I was looking for. It shows you all the positions and rates the difficulty levels. Goal is to try them all.

Great book, My girl friend and I tried all the positions in this book and they work great. But you have to plan a few days to go through them all as there are so many that you get totally too tired to keep going. So plan a morning, noon, afternoon and evening session for each day for 4 or 5 days to get through them all.

The book was very sensual, and I remember reading something like it when I was younger.I had some of the lovley oils, and they smelled so good on the skin, very exotic.I recommend it to anyone looking for different ways of making love and the pictures are tastefully done. Enjoy! JAN
