I used this book one month prior to sitting for my VTNE. It was helpful, but if you don't known your basic knowledge, this is not the book to review with. I think this is best used as a supplement if you already work in practice, or in addition to your class notes. I liked having a physical paper, that I could take with me on slow nights at the ER.Pros:-bullet point format, no lengthy reading required.-lots of helpful charts/graphs/pictures, which breaks up the monotony of reading sometimes.-updated information, especially in the section of critical/emergency care and diagnostics (blood/ua/cytology)- code for use of online tests and practice-has easy to identity sections to help you find which area you are looking to study-quizzes at the end of each chapter, which I found the MOST helpful part of the entire bookCons:-the avian/exotic animal section (pets, not lab animal) has a lot of outdated or incorrect information, which can show up frequently on the VTNE- there is not justification of the hundreds of answers to the practice test questions. In some cases I doubted the answer, or didn't know where to find the information to review in the giant chapter, so I didn't know why I missed the question- the practice website leaves A LOT to be desired. The questions do not change, if you take a practice VTNE, it will be the exact same the next time, except the questions will be in a different order. Only useful for a couple review sessions. I wish it had the entire bank of questions from the book.Overall, I found the book helpful in preparing for my VTNE, which I passed on my first try. Having used the Colville review prior, I preferred this review book over the Colville hands down.

I bought several study aids for my VTNE, I liked how this one reviewed everything in a nice summary of all the subjects. However I found some of the questions to have incorrect or inconsistent answers. I did like how the answer key explained the answers. I would recommend this book for the review, but be very wary of the inconsistencies with the answer keys. I bought several study aids for the VTNE, and over anything else I would recommend this: Review Questions and Answers for Veterinary Technicians, 5th Edition by Heather Prendergast. I recommend this one over anything else because I actually recognized questions on the VTNE word for word from the Prendergast book. This gets 4 stars though because it was still helpful in preparation for the test.

I had all my books and notes from school to study from and it was so difficult to get the information needed from all of them. This book was awesome to put it all in one place and then if I needed further clarification that this did not include I would reference back to my other texts. It requires you to already understand the concepts so it will not necessarily "teach" you the material.I recently passed the test with this book being one of the only things I used to study from.

Great study guide and there is alot of important information provided in this text.A little expensive but the book was required for school. Can be used to study for boards and as a reference guide in the future.I would recommend this textbook.

This is a great tool for the VTNE! I am starting a year ahead and getting into it to prepare myself early on, and this book seems to do a great job at that. The only thing I worry about is with it being a book and not being able to mix up the questions, I may get to a point where I just know the answer because I have done it so many times. So I intend to use this as a guide to know what to study, and when I feel I have a full understanding of the topics, then I will try the tests in the book. This way I do not simply memorize them, but know them.

The information was good, but some of the answers to the practice quizzes were wrong. If you are looking for a book so you can just answer questions and have practice tests to take, I would NOT recommend this one. If you plan on reading it cover-to-cover, then this is a good study aid. AAVSB makes an android/apple app with practice questions I highly recommend - pocket prep.

This book is very helpful for the studying veterinary technician. Not only do you get practice questions, but the book will reference what chapter you can find the answer if you got the question wrong. Questions are easy to photo copy from the book.

I am so thankful I found this book, it has been extremely helpful as both a reference guide and VTNE review. Really wish I had it during school, as the book is done in an outline format that would have supplemented the course material and made it easier to understand.

These selections are beyond me for playing now; old lips, slow fingers, but it's interesting to follow along when I play the CDs or Lps (yup, still have the records).

Its about time this book came out, and its also about time it came out in Bb. Why a book of trumpet solos was only initially released in concert key is beyond me - tons (50) of tunes, including the heads, w/ songs spanning all eras, transcribed w/ Miles' inflections, as well as the solos - this book is awesome !

I bought this book for my young son who is a remarkable jazz trumpet player for his age. This omnibook of Miles Davis heads and solos is a terrific source for practicing and developing one's jazz chops..

The only thing holding me back from what this book is teaching is my lack of practice. It's a must buy if you want to play jazz.

If you like Miles and you want to play his solos verbatim this is the book for you.

Great for studying solos by one of the greatest jazz musicians in history. Miles concepts fo soloing are amazing. Must study great for trumpet players and clarinet players that want to learn about jazz.

These are great transcriptions in the Hal Leonard tradition. The Miles Davis Omnibook is a great complement to the faster paced Charlie Parker Omnibook. The rhythmic notations are challenging and rewarding if you can play them as written. To play this music is to appreciate the genius that is Miles Davis. Once you can play some of the pieces in the Charlie Parker and Miles Davis Omnibooks, you can move on to try your hand at improvisation against say a backing track on "How to Play Jazz and Improvise" by Jamey Aebersold.

Bought this for my teenage son who's starting to excel on trumpet, and it's been so cool hearing him sight read some Miles!

PROS:- The theory is good and easy to understand.CONS:- Hardly any examples in the book. There are no detailed TDD examples as well.- End of book exercises are way more difficult than the sparse examples in the book.- No guide or solutions to the end of chapter exercises. So, you don't know if you are doing TDD "correctly".- Author does not reply to (succinct, polite and non spammy) emails that request for help.Verdict: Might be good for people who have learned some TDD at work and/or practiced TDD in a language other than Java and want to learn Junit and Mockito.PS: I would give the book 5 stars and pay $100 more for it, if it had detailed step by step solutions for all the exercises.

In general, I liked this book. The author is clearly knowledgeable on the subject matter, and covers most of the important points. To all readers: I am giving this a four star review, because it does do most of the things it sets out to do. Because it was recently published (at the time of this review), it is going to be the most up to date reference you can find, few books are using the latest versions of JUnit and Mockito, which is valuable, because JUnit 3 is so different from JUnit 4... and JUnit 4.11 is so different form JUnit 4.6.However, I'm going to spend a bit more time on the problems, because they're more interesting to talk about, but not because the book is only problems.1) It needs a bit more editing. Certain parts of the book are not formatted well, and it is pretty noticeable. Again, reader, keep in mind my 4 star rating, it's not *SO BAD* to make it unreadable, just in a few places you get surprised by such a noticeable and easily fixable formatting problem.2) It needs more integrated examples. Many of the examples are kept simple, which makes them clear about that particular concept, but then you look at your existing code and realize that it's significantly more complicated than the example in this book, and it's not so easy to transfer the use cases. A chapter on doing exactly that, looking at more complicated code and figuring out how to test it would be extremely helpful.3) I bought this book because I have a reasonably complicated project than I wanted to learn how to test before I moved onto deployment. I would think that most of the people buying this book would be in that situation... it is a rare person who would think about testing before the code is actually written, unless you're already used to thinking that way. This book spends a large amount of time talking about that concept (Test Driven Development, or TDD) - it is the entirety of Chapter 4. However, I suspect that most readers either 1. already know about TDD and are using it, and therefore don't need that much of an in depth discussion of it, or 2. are like me, and are looking to test existing software. In my opinion, this book spends too much energy trying to teach people to use TDD, and not enough effort helping people add tests to their existing code that wasn't designed with TDD, nor enough effort on how to refactor existing code to make it more testable.4) This is related to #3. I wish this book had a section on, "okay, your test has failed, but you don't know why". How can you modify your test and use a debugger to figure out why the test failed and how can you fix it? For example, if you use a mockito mock, and you say "verify that this method was called once" and it was called twice, what could/should you do to figure out where it was called from?If you're looking for a book that teaches the latest versions of JUnit, Mockito, and related packages (CatchException, PowerMock, etc.), this book is for you. If you're looking for a book that will help you debug existing code and write tests for existing code, this book is not as helpful.

Amazing! Tomek absolutely named the book correctly with "Practical". One of the few technical books that I could not put down. I have experience with JUnit, Mockito, Powermock and Hamcrest, and still learned so much from the examples.Not only are the examples practical, Tomek addresses discusses real dilemmas that we face in application testing. Check out the "Points of Controversy", real good stuff in that chapter for the experienced as well as the inexperienced.

The author explains key concepts clearly with code snippets:(1) SUT / Collaborators(2) State verification vs Interaction verification(3) Test doubles - Dummy, vs Fake vs Mock vs Test Spy(4) Various Approaches : Sub-class and override vs. Partial Mocking vs. PowerMockitoHighly Recommended !

I recently bought this book about a month ago once we started using Mockito more on our project. There aren't too many books out there about Mockito and most of the JUnit books cover a wide range of testing ideas, along with being semi out of date. This book is very new and is amazing. I have already read this book over once and constantly find me correcting test classes and refactoring tests in more positive ways. My skill level with both JUnit and Mockito has risen exponentially. I would recommend this book to anyone using JUnit or Mockito or to any developer out there who wants to learn more about these frameworks. I really can't say enough good things about this book. Thank you to the author for taking the time to write the book. If you have come across this book in searches and debated on whether or not to buy it, trust me, it's worth every penny and then some.

Very good for beginners and those who want to confirm ideas and ways. I recommend this book very much.

If you are at all familiar with testing with JUnit, this book is probably not going to be of much interest to you. It simply isn't advanced enough to get you beyond the bare minimum of unit testing. I was very disappointed, and not amused at all. A waste of money.

A clear and concise guide to an often difficult and mysterious topic that many may find daunting by other scholars and clergy. Thiselton is an Anglican priest and eminent biblical scholar. His explanation is reminiscent of C.S. Lewis’ deft handling of complex subjects. He writes an approachable book to the layman, sufficiently sourced for the academic, solid for clergy and student alike. Quite often books on these topics are muddled by more jargon than is necessary. He deals quite fairly with divergent views on the placement and emphasis of the Holy Spirit mostly in a Trinitarian context without giving short shrift to other contextual approaches. The breadth of his coverage and span is quite amazing given it is a relatively short book (200 pages). His book has much to recommend it for brevity and clarity. This clarity has convinced this reader to attempt his longer version on the same topic.
