These selections are beyond me for playing now; old lips, slow fingers, but it's interesting to follow along when I play the CDs or Lps (yup, still have the records).
Its about time this book came out, and its also about time it came out in Bb. Why a book of trumpet solos was only initially released in concert key is beyond me - tons (50) of tunes, including the heads, w/ songs spanning all eras, transcribed w/ Miles' inflections, as well as the solos - this book is awesome !
I bought this book for my young son who is a remarkable jazz trumpet player for his age. This omnibook of Miles Davis heads and solos is a terrific source for practicing and developing one's jazz chops..
The only thing holding me back from what this book is teaching is my lack of practice. It's a must buy if you want to play jazz.

Great for studying solos by one of the greatest jazz musicians in history. Miles concepts fo soloing are amazing. Must study great for trumpet players and clarinet players that want to learn about jazz.
These are great transcriptions in the Hal Leonard tradition. The Miles Davis Omnibook is a great complement to the faster paced Charlie Parker Omnibook. The rhythmic notations are challenging and rewarding if you can play them as written. To play this music is to appreciate the genius that is Miles Davis. Once you can play some of the pieces in the Charlie Parker and Miles Davis Omnibooks, you can move on to try your hand at improvisation against say a backing track on "How to Play Jazz and Improvise" by Jamey Aebersold.
Bought this for my teenage son who's starting to excel on trumpet, and it's been so cool hearing him sight read some Miles!
