Perhaps only 1/2 of 1% of American eyes and ears are offended by Jesus as a swear word, but that still adds up. So why use it?Can anyone who lived through WW 2 personally vouch for the use “Jesus” as a curse in 1942? I don’t think people were that vulgar yet, or maybe just in Boston? And from women, too. It speaks volumes that none of the five-star reviewers cared about it at all.A Kindle word search found this offensiveness 16 times. Sixteen. Book is gone.

This is the first book I've read by this author, and found it to be the best historical novel set during World War II that I have ever read. Healey's descriptions are so vivid, I felt I was right there among the cast of characters. I could envision everything so easily. This is a heartwarming story about the sacrifices many young women made by leaving their homes and families to volunteer with the Red Cross to be Clubmobile Girls in Europe. These women provided a service to the soldiers in the field and were a welcome site to the soldiers as they served them coffee and doughnuts, while bringing them a taste of home. There were actually a few Clubmobile Girls that received the Bronz Medal for their sacrificial service when the war ended. This is an amazing story about he adventures these girls experienced, along with persevering through challenges and hardships, and along the way, making life-long friends.

I highly recommend this book for its memorable characters and satisfying storyline. There's a range of interesting material for book groups to discuss, from women's friendships to various aspects of war that people never think about, like the morale boostering the Clubmobile girls provided.

I thoroughly enjoy historical fiction, especially the novels that deal with subjects that are not well known. Having been in the military myself, I really enjoyed this book. Ms Healey did a magnificent job of developing the characters and telling the story. I thought the book was absolutely excellent.

Brilliant.!After reading her first novel I didn't know how this could be any better. She killed it! I loved how she incorporated real memoirs into her story. Great book that I could not put down! Can't wait to see what she has in store for her next novel!

Loved reading about these little known women in history. All the characters were likable and realistic. Can't wait for more from this incredible author.

The adventures of three Red Cross gals from Boston are described so convincingly that the reader feels a part of the group. Some actual events blend in beautifully.

Thank you for such a wonderful book. I could not put it down! I am looking forward to your future books.
