Really enjoyed the book. I give it my pure stoke recommendation to anyone who has surf, particularly if you have some grey in your hair. Curious though... Sorensen takes us from the top of Mt Rushmore to the tip of Baja, and even further: his wife's colonoscopy. It would be great if he had explored the personal relationship balance every surf person has with his/her spouse. It is a tender balance and patience.
REALLY GOOD,,FUN, LOTS OF LAUGHS.A GOOD NON FICTION READ WISH I WOULD HAVE MOVED THERE YEARS AGO,A SELF STRANDED SURFER UP HERE IN NORTH IDAHO,NICE PLACE BUT TOO DAM COLD,THANKS FOR THE 3 DAYS OF WARMTH AND LAUGHS .
Loved this book, it gave me a little insight on the obsession of surfing. (mean that in a fun way surfers) Our good buddy surfs and I never could quite understand his love of it. The fact that I know many of the places and folks in the book was an added bonus. This book flowed smoothly from start to finish, was sad to get to the end. Steve shares stories of real happenings here in Baja through out his surf days that were highly entertaining. If you can't get to Baja...this book will get you as close as possible with out being here!
At times repetitive but interesting and enjoyable. Quick with lots of details and very descriptive. Overall I recommend it to anyone who likes to travel.
Great read! As a surfer and lover of Baja, this book was music to my soul. I loved the honesty of what it's really like to live in Mexico. Reading it was taking a beautiful, mental, vacation to one of my favorite places on the planet. Well done!
A good travel dialogue. Sorensen is a natural storie teller. The escapades of an aging surfer who gets out of the mainstream city living & urban surfing. Makes you want to dust down your surfboard and travel
It was different to what I was expecting. But it had me looking up Google Earth to try & find this place. It sounds like it would make a fine surfing destination. Thoroughly enjoyed it. A return to a simpler type of life. A great place to retire to.
